A Childhood Dream
I have always had the dream of going to Stanford, even since the time that I was a young boy. When I was little and heard people speak of the SAT, I had always thought it stood for Stanford Achievement Test because I never remembered the word standardized. In addition, several people that I knew growing up went to Stanford. My cousin Kristen Sidell went to Stanford and received a degree in Art History and has told me that her experience at Stanford was absolutely terrific and the people that she met there were amazing.
As well as my cousin going to Stanford, Robert Ogilvie, a lawyer who worked at my father's office, was a Stanford graduate and is one of the smartest men that I have ever met. He always spoke of Stanford with such great respect that he instilled a desire within me to go there.
Visiting
Spending several summers at Stanford for ID Tech Camp has only made me want to go there even more. The campus is amazing and in addition to that fact, last time, I had the privilege to talk to several Stanford students while I was there. From the conversations that I had with the students, I could tell that the students truly enjoyed Stanford and were glad that they went to school there.
The fact that students there like school really makes me want to go. Many students that I have met in my life time hate school and only go because their parents and society makes them. I hope to be able to go to a school where I can communicate with other individuals who truly enjoy school like myself.
Computer Science
In addition to the reason's provided, the final reason that I want to go to Stanford is that it is one of the best computer science schools in the world. I have always had an interest in Computers since the time that I was little and have taught myself almost everything that I know today. I hope that by attending Stanford University, I will be able to develop a community of friends around me who also share a passion for computers and computer programming.
